Key Features of the Recipe

Ingredients

The recipe requires only 2 basic ingredients:

Ripe Bananas: These will add natural sweetness, creaminess, and a boost of fiber and potassium.

Dark Chocolate (70% cocoa): Rich in antioxidants, magnesium, and iron, dark chocolate adds a decadent, chocolatey flavor while keeping the dessert relatively low in sugar.

Steps

The steps are very simple:

  • Melt the chocolate either on the stovetop in a double boiler or in the microwave.
  • Blend the bananas until smooth and creamy.
  • Fold in the melted chocolate into the banana mixture, blending until it comes together.
  • Serve immediately, or refrigerate to set for a chilled, firmer texture.

Texture

This chocolate pudding is smooth and silky, thanks to the use of ripe bananas. It was creamy and thick without the addition of any dairy or thickeners. The pudding could be set in the fridge for a firmer consistency, similar to a mousse.

Customization

This pudding can be hugely adjusted to suit your taste needs. You may add:

  • Vanilla extract for added depth of flavor
  • Nut butters, such as almond or peanut butter, provide creaminess and a boost in protein
  • You can add some shredded coconut, or chopped nuts for an added texture along with more nutritious value

Nutrient Boosts:

If you want to enhance the nutrient intake, then try adding chia seeds, flaxseeds, or hemp seeds. They are rich in omega-3s, fiber, and extra vitamins.
Berries of your choice, such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries, would complement the chocolate-banana flavor and increase the vitamin C content.

Health Benefits

  • Banana is one of the richest sources of potassium, vitamin B6, and fiber. Banana sweetens itself without refined sugars.
  • Dark Chocolate (70% or higher) is packed with antioxidants, magnesium, and iron, making it a heart-healthy indulgence in moderation.
  • This dessert doesn't contain dairy and is therefore ideal for lactose-intolerant individuals or those on a plant-based diet.

Serving Ideas:

  • Toppings: Top your pudding with chocolate chips, a sprinkle of unsweetened cocoa powder, shaved coconut, or nut butter drizzled on top for added richness and texture.
  • This pudding can be served as a dessert, a healthy snack, or even a breakfast option if you’re looking for something sweet but nutritious to start your day.

Storage

  • You can serve the pudding immediately for a soft, mousse-like texture, or chill it for 15-20 minutes to make it firmer and more like a traditional pudding.
  • It stores well in the fridge for 2-3 days, making it perfect for meal prep or leftovers.

Why You’ll Love It

This Banana Chocolate Pudding is a treat to the buds, and at the same time, one gets to indulge in something decadent without feeling guilty. It is naturally sweet, creamy, and satisfying-a perfect balance of health and indulgence. Whether after a meal or for healthier snacking, this pudding is going to hit the spot.
